My first Influenster box

You know those ads you see on Instagram that say "totally free stuff by mail!",
Yeah, I ignore those too. But a beauty guru friend was raving about free makeup she recieved through mail, totally free through Influenster. So of course I had to check it out and the company is very legit and have several opportunities to earn free stuff monthly.
And yeah, their is a catch- you have to promote the products sent to you, but isn't that what we do anyways?
So after I downloaded the app, I filled out all of my info, connected my social media accounts and in about a week I received my first box.
To my surprise the products were full sized and from a company I actually love, L'Oreal Paris.
They sent the Color Vibrancy Intensive system to use for color treated hair. So of course I used all products right away and I was very satisfied with the results. Not only did it make my hair much more visably shinier and softer, it brought back life to my color treated hair. This is the only shampoo that I've used that didn't cause the color to wash out in the sink, the water ran through my hair clear.
But I'm a sucker for a good hair mask, I would recommend this over any of the other products.

The smell is amazing! It's more floral and 'perfumy' than most masks. It made my hair soft, shiny, and more noticably vibrant for 4 days after use. So this mask, will definitely be repurchased.

If you are interested in becoming a brand influencer through Influenster, shoot me a message and I will sign you up!
And let me know your thoughts on the L'oreal Color Vibrancy Intensive system!

*I received all of these products complimentary to test and all opinions are my own*

Favorite books of 2016

My idea of a perfect Saturday would be spent at home wrapped up in a good book.
My love of books is nothing new, growing up as an only child I had to entertain myself and since I came from a family of readers there's no surprise how easy my love of books began.
Books allows the reader to travel to places you have never been to. You can vicariously experience situations that you may either only dream of (or loathe). But however which way, Iyou would still gain invaluable insights.
Reading also enhances your brain, is a great counseling aid and tool for personal growth, not to mention a wonderful boredom buster.
Ok, enough with my personal reasons for reading. I read so many books last year from the Kindle store and on hard copy that I compiled a list of my favorite books, you know the ones that's impossible to put down.

Once I started this book, I could not put it down until I finished. It's one of those haunting stories where the characters stay with you for days after you finished.

Near an isolated mansion lies a beautiful garden.
In this garden grow luscious flowers, shady trees…and a collection of precious “butterflies”—young women who have been kidnapped and intricately tattooed to resemble their namesakes. Overseeing it all is the Gardener, a brutal, twisted man obsessed with capturing and preserving his lovely specimens.
This book is not for the faint of heart, there were several parts that made me a bit squeamish but overall it was beautifully written. The writer had so many plot twists and turns that kept me hooked and (spoiler alert) had a very satisfying ending.

If you haven't noticed by now, I'm a big fan of mystery/thriller books.
Joe talbert is a 21-year-old college student tasked with writing a biographical piece on an elderly individual for his writing class. having no family members fitting the bill, he goes to a nursing home to find a willing participant. the only resident with enough cognitive capacity to take part is carl iverson, a vietnam vet and convicted rapist/murderer released from jail on medical parole after thirty years; he is dying of pancreatic cancer and has been sent to the nursing home to live out his remaining months.
Iverson agrees to be interviewed as long as joe agrees to complete transparency in all of their dealings.
Although the book has a very familiar plot, it's definitely worth reading. All of the characters are very complicated and complex but really mesh well into the story. There are so many twists that by the end of the book it has shaped into a totally different story.

I am a huge Gillian Flynn fan! I have read everything she's wrote at least twice. The Grown-up is not necessarily a novel but a short story. It's definitely a good read and would recommend to anyone who appreciates dark humor.
The narrator is a born and raised scam artist. Her con seems like the perfect mark--rich, desperate, and terrified of the evil she says lives in her house. Staying true to Flynn's style, she takes the story on a psychological thrill ride that leaves you replaying every moment on repeat in your thoughts.

The Warrior Goddess Way by HeatherAsh Amera

A great follow-up to the original Warrior Goddess training book. This book explains 3 pillars to include in your warrior goddess journey,
Wisdom, authenticity and yes.
Do not read this book unless you have read the warrior goddess training and workbook! Trust me, it will change your life! I love all 3 books and had so many personal revolutions while on my own journey. I truly believe that every woman should read all of HeatherAsh Amera's books.

5. The Girls by Emma Cline

At first I was totally put off by the concept of this book- the girls in the Manson cult?
Then as the book gained more notetriery I was intrigued.
The story focuses on how the girls grew up and what lead them into the cult instead of life with Manson. The book exceeded my expectations and gave an interesting perspective of life in the 60's.

6. The Nest by Cynthia d'Apprix Sweeney

This is probably my favorite book of the year. I loved the trendy high-end New York side and the dysfunctional family side that we can all relate to.
The story is about 4 siblings who are waiting for the youngest sibbling to turn 40 so they will receive an inheritance (the best). The ups and downs they go through and the humerous battles and clash in personalities made the story hard to put down.
Everyone that I know that's read this book, has nothing but good things to say about it!

So that's my list of favorite books that I read in 2016. I'm eager to hear from you guys.
What books would you recommend?
What's on your reading list?
Have you read any of these books?
Until next time, I'll see you in the Kindle store.

3 years later

Wow. I look at this old blog from time to time and I can't believe how long it's been since I've posted.
So much can change in so little time. So I've decided to revive this blog that I spent so much time on way back.
Of course it will still be beauty and style based but since I've grown and my audience has, I'm going to be posting different articles too.
Things like, books I'm reading, TV shows, life lessons, being a mommy, and things that spark my interests.
Thank you to all of my readers!!!!

Bare Minerals Beauty and the Beach Review

Last week I cashed in my beauty points on for this lovely sample set by bare minerals. The set is called Beauty and the Beach and it includes 5 pieces for a summer look. The set included marvelous moxie lip gloss in party starter, ready bronzer in the skinny dip, bare minerals ready blush in the natural high, all over face color in pure radiance and a sample of their lash domination mascara. So here is my take on the set:
Here it is ladies!

Marvelous Moxie lipgloss in Party Starter- this is a darker, coral and peach color. It was very sticky but it lasted for a few hours. It matched the blush perfectly.
Ready Blush in The Natural High: This blush is a nice peachy pink color, it looks really shimmery in the package but looks more matte when applied. I loved that the color matched the gloss!
Ready Bronzer in The Skinny Dip- I used this to contour and sculpt my face and it turned out beautiful. It matched my skin tone very nicely. Its very similar to the too faced bronzers.
All Over Color in Pure Radiance- this product is way too whiteish and shimmery to use for all over color, instead it works great for a highlighter. Its almost identical to the highlighter in urban decay's naked flushed palettes.

Lash Domination in black- I was very surprised with this mascara. The spirally brush seperated my lashes and made them look like I was wearing falsies. I was convinced that I had found my new favorite mascara. Until a couple of hours later I noticed that all the mascara had fallen out and was under my eyes! Big disappointment.

Your favorite blogger sporting the Beauty and the Beach set.

Overall I really liked all of these samples. The mascara was a big let down, but I love the bronzer. So if you are considering cashing in your sephora points, I would definitely recommend this. But it is a limited edition set, and 5 deluxe samples is worth 500 points.

I hope you enjoyed my review and found it helpful. Comment below for more beauty reviews and let me know what you think about this :)

Review: Too Faced Teddy Bear Brush Set

By request, here is my very first beauty product review.

This lovely brush set is the Teddy Bear Hair Brush Set by Too Faced Cosmetics, $65 on I've always been a fan of Too Faced, there products are great and I love how they package and market their products. So of course I was very excited to receive this brush set. This set comes with 5 makeup brushes and a bag to carry them. I love tge bag, I see myself using it for something else; i dont like tge idea of makeup brushes being loose in a bag. The set includes a large powder brush and 4 brushes for the eyes, contour, blender, all over shadow and liner.

The brushes as expected, are super soft. They really feel like a soft teddy bear! I also loved that they printed the name of the brush on the handle, so you could always know what each brush is for. So after using the brushes to apply my makeup here are my thoughts:

Powder Brush: This is my new favorite big brush! I don't wear powder but I used it for a blush brush and it was easy to use and the blush went on very lovely.

Contour: where has this brush been all my life? I've never owned an eye shadow contouring brush before, this brush made applying my eye shadow on the crease easier than ever! This brush is definitely the best out of the whole set!

All over shadow: I love that the brushes are super soft but this brush was too soft. The soft texture made it harder to apply the shadow to my lids.

Blender: Blended my lid and crease shadow beautifully!

Liner: I don't use gel liner but I did use this to line my lower lashes with a dark shadow and it worked great!

Overall, the powder and contour brush is worth buying this set. I do love this set and will be using it on the regular basis. I would rate it an 8/10.
What are your thoughts on these brushes?

Beauty Favorites For June

As much as I love fashion and clothes, beauty products are my one true loves. There's not much that I love more than trying a new beauty product. I have literally spent my whole paychecks at sephora or ultra. And Ive been known to spend all day on I am really and truly obsessed with beauty. With that being said, here are the products I'm loving this month.

Glam Glow Super Clearing Mud Mask- This is the holy grail of all face masks. As the label promised, all blackheads and breakouts magically disappeared. My pours also appeared smaller and I noticed a huge difference the next day when I applied my makeup, it went on much smoother.

Hourglass Ambient Glow Palette- I have yet to own this gorgeous palette but after sampling it, its definitely on my wish list. I applied it as a highlighter one morning and later that night it was still on. My husband said it made my iskin glow in dim lighting! I've never tried any other products from hourglass but if the quality is as great as this is, I'll definitely be adding more of their items to my vanity.

Dior Addict it Mascara- The formula in this mascara is essentially the same as Diorshow mascara, the brush is only different. I didn't like the brush, it made my lashes a little clumpy but the product did add some beautiful length to my lashes. This mascara also comes in a fun pink and blue shade.

Sexy Mother Pucker Lip Lacquer- this is another product that I only had the sample size, the gloss promises to pucker your lips which it slightly does. It lasted a slight longer than I expected ( which was great) but really, the only reason I am favoring this gloss right now is because of the name! I have to love it based on that. I'm looking forward to trying out more colors in the sexy mother pucker line soon.

Have you tried any of these lovelies?

What I'm Lovin' Now: Color Blocking

Color Blocking

Color Blocking by summeredmonds featuring a leather purse

Whether its mixing classic black and white or mixing two colors you would never wear together, color blocking is a fun way to make your outfit stand out. I love pairing a brighter top with a darker color for the bottom. There are also so many fun colorful accessories to try out this trend. I like having a solid colored outfit with multicolored accessories to add some fun to an otherwise boring look.

Do you color block?
