Monthly Beauty Box Reviews

Monthly Subscription Service Reviews
By now, I'm sure all of you have heard of if not tried at least one Beauty subscription boxes.
The deal is, you pay a monthly fee to have a curated package of beauty products delivered via mail to your door once a month. Depending on the company, the price range is between $10-$25.
I started my love for beauty subscription boxes almost 6 years ago. Since then I have been a subscriber to 8 different boxes.
It's something I always look forward to every month! Usually these boxes ship out during the middle of the month so I am always looking forward to them around that time. And, most companies send out an email when your box has shipped with a tracking number.

If your new to the beauty box world or thinking about expanding and trying a new box, here is my roundup and review of the beauty boxes that I have tried.

Cost: $10
Birchbox was the first beauty box that I ever subscribed to(I believe that it was the first available in the USA). Birchbox is a mix of sample sized makeup, hair products, body products, and fragrance. You will get a lot of higher end household brands such as Benefit, Mac, Origins, Living Proof, Stila, Milk etc. You also get a lot of higher end brands that are new and up and coming brands. They also have a loyalty program for making purchases through Birchbox, referring friends and buying gift subscriptions. There is no waitlist when you subscribe so you will get the month that you paid for. I love Birchbox because it lets you try not only makeup but also hair care and body products too. I have been introduced to so many of my current beauty staples through Birchbox samples. If I had to rate Birchbox on a scale of 1-5 I would give them a 4.
If you are interested in subscribing to Birchbox, here are a few promo codes to enter at checkout:
Free Mini Queen Frog Lipstick- code FREEFROG
15% off: code TAKE15
3 free mini Stila Lipsticks: code PERFECTKISS

Cost: $10
I have been an Ipsy subscriber for almost as long as I have to Birchbox. Along with4 sample sized and 1 full sized product, you will recieve a glam bag(makeup bag) every month. There is a waitlist with Ipsy, I believe it is less that a couple of weeks wait although they do have promos throughout the year where they lift the waitlist. After you get off the waitlist you will not recieve that months bag even though they go ahead and charge your card(bummer).
You will recieve a lot of brand favorites such as Tarte, Too Faced, Smashbox, and NYX as well as a lot of high quality Indie brands. You can create your profile as to what items you would prefer to recieve every month such as makeup, haircare, face and body, makeup brushes and nails. As well as your skin and hair type so you will not recieve a color that doesn't look good on you or suitable for your hair and skin type.
Being an Ipsy subscriber has a great points system. Every month that you recieve a glam bag they will credit you 100 points. You can redeem these points for beauty items. Most of the time it only costs 500 points for an item so it really doesn't take long to rack up some points. You can also recieve points by reviewing items in your glam bag and for referring a friend.
Ipsy has a new feature for members called the Ipsy Shopper. You can purchase full sized itmes of the products you recieved in your bag through them and recieve a rebate. For example they have the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara in their shop for $23.00 but they have a 20% rebate for the item so you will only end up paying $18.40!
If I had to rate Ipsy on a scale of 1-5 I would give them a 5!

Cost: $10
When Play by Sephora was first released in 2015 the beauty world went crazy! The waitlist for this box was so long that it took me 6 months to get in. But like most things in the beauty world that are overly hyped about, it was a let down for me. But in my defense(I know a lot of people love their Sephora boxes) I have been in the beauty industry for 13 years now, a makeup artist for 11 years, so there isn't many products at Sephora that I haven't tried.
Like most beauty boxes, you recieve 5 sample sized items ranging from makeup, hair care, face and body. The majority of the products you will recieve are tried and true classic beauty staples. Everything from Philosophy, Clinique, Nars, Glamglow and Ouai. You will also recieve a cute drawstring bag every month. There is no waitlist and you will get the box the month that you pay for it.
I would recommend this to someone new to beauty or if you want to try the item before purchasing the full sized product. Or as a gift to a teenager!
I would rate Play! by sephora a 2 on a scale of 1-5.

Cost: $19.99
MorpheMe is a monthly box with only makeup brushes. You will receive 3-8 brushes(the more you get the smaller the brush) a month. I used to swear by and only use Sigma brushes but after I joined MorpheMe, I learned that the Morphe brushes have the same quality as Pro brushes.
I love brushes and use a lot of them since I am a makeup artist, as well as my personal use. So I am always having to buy new brushes or on the lookout for a better brush.
I know Morphe has a lipstick club and an eyeshadow club out now for the same price as the brushes. I would love to try those since I love my Morphe eyeshadow palettes. I would love to see Morphe create a box with all three though!
Since I love it so much and it is something that I use every day,
I would have to give MorpheMe Brush Club a 5 on a scale of 1-5!

Cost: $10 for the first month, $15 after that
Allure Beauty box is a mix between Birchbox and Play! by Sephora.
You will get a lot of household brands, tried and true beauty staples, as well as a few new items.
You usually get 1 full sized item(they claim 3 full sized items, although i've never seen it) and 4 sample sized items. You will also receive a mini magazine telling you all about the items you received. You also get special boxes curated by Beauty Guru's and MakeupArtists.
Like the Play by Sephora box I would recommend this to someone new to beauty or as a gift to a teenager.
On a scale of 1-5 I would rate this box a 3.

Cost: $21
I saved my favorite for last. Boxycharm is the creme de la creme of beauty boxes. You receive 4-5 full sized products every month from new to household brand, high quality items. Every month you will receive a new eye shadow palette too! Brands range from Tarte, Too Faced, Colourpop, Mac, The Balm, Cover FX etc.
Also the black packaging that comes with your monthly box can be used for cleaning makeup brushes!
I have been a subscriber for almost 2 years now and I have never been disappointed with anything I have received yet. I would would definitely recommend this box to anyone and everyone who has a love and passion for makeup!
On a scale of 1-5, I would give this box a 5++!

I hope my reviews were helpful to you guys. I know there are other beauty box services out there that I am sure are great that I haven't tried. I would love to hear your thoughts and recommendations!

Bare Minerals Beauty and the Beach Review

Last week I cashed in my beauty points on Sephora.com for this lovely sample set by bare minerals. The set is called Beauty and the Beach and it includes 5 pieces for a summer look. The set included marvelous moxie lip gloss in party starter, ready bronzer in the skinny dip, bare minerals ready blush in the natural high, all over face color in pure radiance and a sample of their lash domination mascara . So here is my take on the set: Here it is ladies! Marvelous Moxie lipgloss in Party Starter- this is a darker, coral and peach color. It was very sticky but it lasted for a few hours. It matched the blush perfectly. Ready Blush in The Natural High : This blush is a nice peachy pink color, it looks really shimmery in the package but looks more matte when applied. I loved that the color matched the gloss! Ready Bronzer in The Skinny Dip- I used this to contour and sculpt my face and it turned out beautiful. It matched my skin tone very nicely. Its very similar to t

Best Fragrances of 2017

I am such a Perfume junkie. I change fragrances with clothes, moods, seasons and events. I've always felt like Perfume is a luxury that women should spoil their selves with. I love giving perfumes to my friends, family, co-workers, neighbors(you get the picture). And my favorite gift is always perfume(hint-hint)! Every department store visit, I head to the fragrance counter before I check out anything else to see what's new(Yes fragrance  girl, you can give me a spritz).  Ok, now that  you get the idea of how deep my relationship with perfume is.  2017 has been a great year for the fragrance industry. I thought long and hard and I really can't remember trying a scent that I didn't like. From new releases from beloved favorite brands, Gucci Bloom, Victor & Rolf Magic, Tom Ford Oud Minerale to new fragrences from Diptyque Eau des Sens, Jo Malone London Jade Leaf Tea Cologne, and Atelier Cologne CafĂ© Tuberosa.  It was a struggle to find my top 5 favorite scent
