I've always hated wearing glasses.
My face is small so it's hard for me to find a pair that makes does not make my eyes get lost behind them. The key is to find a pair that will enhance you're facial features and bring attention to your specs. I've also had qualms about how to style an outfit and hair with glasses(which apparently there's no wrong answer).
I was stumped on the do's and don'ts of make-up with glasses!
I love wearing lots of eye makeup, but I knew that wearing too much wouldn't look so great under glasses. And since my eyes are usually the feature that I play up when applying cosmetics, I was stumped.
But thankfully after googling and reading for hours on how to master this, I will share with you some of my new found wisdom and some photo inspiration via Pinterest:
Use a white or beige on your lower water lines to create the illusion of larger eyes. This is especially helpful if you're near-sighted and your prescription makes your eyes look smaller.
Use an eyelash curler or a new pair of falsies: think of eyelashes as visors or awnings for the eyes, by flipping or curving them up you allow more light to reach the eye and that makes the eye look bigger and brighterPlay up your lips! This is the time to try bold colors on accentuate your lips with a bold line.
When in doubt you can never go wrong with a classic cat eye.
After searching high and low on the world wide web and the vision center at Walmart, I found the perfect pair in my local Optometrist. A small, lightweight, burgundy plastic framed pair by Elizabeth and James. And I also learned that every designer on the planet from Karl Lagerfeld to Kate Spade has a prescription glasses eye wear line!
What I've learned, to put it simply is that not taking glasses into account when applying makeup is the same as not taking the furniture in your living room into account when repainting your walls. It just doesn't make sense. Makeup is a visual art and your glasses add a whole new dimension to your application process. And what's more, you can actually make your eyes look super big and noticeable even behind frames.
Basically, if you love makeup and love accentuating your eyes, you definitely don't need to say goodbye to that just because you now have frames around them. Because us glasses girls need to stick together!
