I am such a Perfume junkie. I change fragrances with clothes, moods, seasons and events. I've always felt like Perfume is a luxury that women should spoil their selves with. I love giving perfumes to my friends, family, co-workers, neighbors(you get the picture). And my favorite gift is always perfume(hint-hint)! Every department store visit, I head to the fragrance counter before I check out anything else to see what's new(Yes fragrance girl, you can give me a spritz).
Ok, now that you get the idea of how deep my relationship with perfume is. 2017 has been a great year for the fragrance industry. I thought long and hard and I really can't remember trying a scent that I didn't like. From new releases from beloved favorite brands, Gucci Bloom, Victor & Rolf Magic, Tom Ford Oud Minerale to new fragrences from Diptyque Eau des Sens, Jo Malone London Jade Leaf Tea Cologne, and Atelier Cologne Café Tuberosa. It was a struggle to find my top 5 favorite scents of the year but I based my winners on how much I used the scent and which ones I would gift/recommend to a friend. So here are my favorite fragrances of 2017:
Close your eyes and imagine your at the beach.
You know that feeling you get when your dreading to leave, so you stop on the boardwalk to take it all in for one last time? This perfume is that feeling in a bottle. It smells just like sand, sea, sunshine, cocktails and sunscreen. It is literally, happiness in a bottle. It contains notes of Bergamot, Pink Pepper, Lemon, Ylang Ylang, Coconut Milk, Heliotrope, Musk, Cedarwood, and Benzoin.
Hands down, this is my favorite scent of 2017 and one of my all time favorite fragrances.
Trust me, splurge and spoil yourself with this one.
I'm a huge fan of all YSL perfumes. Black Opium is one of my all time favorite perfumes ever. So when I recieved a sample of YSL Mon Paris in the mail, I knew I would love it!
This fragrance is basically a combination of Black Opium and Parisienne. I recieved this back in early February so it was a perfect scent for Valentine's Day. My husband loved it as well so I wore it a lot on date nights. With so many floral and fruity notes, YSL trully captured the essence of Paris. It contains notes of Strawberry, Raspberry, Bergamot, Calone, Pear, Orange Flower, Jasmin Sambac, White Peony, Datura, Patchouli, White Musk, Ambrox, Cedarwood, and Crystal Moss. At certain times it smells like strawberry champagne and others it smells like a huge bouquet.
"Before creating the House of Chanel, Coco was Gabrielle. A rebel at heart...passionate and free. The inspiration for the luminous floral fragrance: GABRIELLE CHANEL."
When the house of Chanel launches a new fragrance, the whole world stops and takes notice. I've had a love/hate relationship with Chanel fragrances. I always feel like their women's fragrances are for older women(maybe because I have an aunt that wears way too much Chanel 5). But I do love some of their mens fragrances, I bought my husband a bottle of Bleu De Chanel when it was released and he also wears Chanel Allure Homme Sport. So I didn't really expect much from Chanel Gabrielle perfume(although I did have my eyes on the handbag). So I totally forgot about the fragrance and recieved a sample of Gabrielle Chanel in the mail.
Chanel did great this time! This fragrance was created by the legendary Oliver Polge. It has such a classic floral scent that is great to wear day or night and for any season. It has notes of Jasmine, Orange Blossom, Grasse Tuberose, Ylang-Ylang. Instead of being a siren that screams of your arrival when entering the room, it's a nearly transparent veil that whispers of a delicate radiance. t's not particularly special or strong, but it is a beautiful, enveloping aura nonetheless.
When it arrived, I anxiously opened the bottle and I fell in love! It's sexy, it's glamorous, it works for day or night, casual or dressy, and can work for any time of the year. Although you do have to watch how much you spray because it is a powerful scent. But one spray lasts me all day(which is a feat living in humid southern Kentucky. It's a perfect floral scent. Key notes are Italian Plum, Bulgarian Rose, Jasmine Sambac, and Liquid Amber .
"It is with young women in mind, by observing their lives, that I created Twilly d’Hermès. Free, bold, and irreverent, they swim against the tide, impose their own rhythm, invent a brand new tempo."—Christine Nagel, HERMÈS Perfumer
Initially I was curious about this fragrance because I have never tried or owned any perfume from Hermes. The packaging is so adorable! It looks like a girl in a derby hat and scarf. Just like the packaging, the scent is equally intriguing.I fell in love with this fragrance while standing in line at Sephora checkout. I sprayed it on my wrist and initially, didn't care for it that much. But the scent quickly unfolded into a lovely, deep fragrance that is fresh, creamy, and comforting. I couldn't stop smelling my wrist(good in-store product placement Sephora). The scent is a good mix of spicy and floral. With notes of ginger, tuberose and sandlewood. I think this is the perfect spring/summertime scent for girls and women alike.
Let me know your thoughts on my list and what are your favorite fragrances of last year?

Yes yes yes! I love Maison Martin Margiela Beachwalk. I bought my brother a bottle of Maison Martin Margiela's replica fireplace(i think) for christmas last year. He has a lot of good ones for men and women.
