Favorite Beauty Products of 2017

2017 has been such an innovative, exciting and enticing year in the beauty market. With many new products from be-loved brands to new brands that have made their way into a new staple. From high luxury brands, high end items, celebrity product lines, and drugstore products, I can honestly say that each month I've been anxiously awaiting the launch of something new(and my bank account can agree).
When I do my yearly beauty favorites post I put the items into 3 categories; makeup, skincare and hair. This year I didn't really try any new hair care products. It seemed like I reached and re-bought the same things that I used last year. So if you have tried a new hair product or tool that you loved or would recommend, please let me know about it!

As I looked through my vanity drawers to select my favorites of the year, to be honest it was so much harder than expected, I narrowed it down to the items that I used consistently, would recommend to a friend, and would give them a 5 star rating when reviewing. So here they are, my Favorite beauty products of 2017.

Makeup

As a devout fan of Armani's Luminous Silk foundation, I was excited to try their new foundation that gives your skin a full coverage matte finish. My skin tone is darker with a honey undertone so it's harder for me to find the perfect foundation shade so I picked up the shades 7.5 tan golden and 8 tan warm. The 8 is the right shade for me in the summer months since I get a little darker.
It has a slight perfumy scent, which I personally love. It's build-able but doesn't leave you with a cake face. It leaves your skin with a soft velvety texture but doesn't dry your skin out like a lot of matte foundations do. I love the fact that it lasts all day and it has SPF 25 coverage to protect you from harmful damage.

Huda Beauty Desert Dusk Eyeshadow Palette

I literally counted down the weeks, days and even sat my alarm to 4:00 am to make sure I would be one of the first people to get their hands on this palette when it was released. I love anything from Huda Kattan! I used her Rose Gold Palette daily until some shades hit the bottom of the pan. This palette contains 18 gorgeous shades, 8 mattes, 6 shimmers, 3 metallics and 1 glitter. It's super versatile and can easily transition from day to night. All of the shades are very pigmented and easy to blend with little to no fall out.

Killawatt Freestyle Highlight by Fenty Beauty in Trophy Wife

Unless you've been living under a rock, this highlighter is the highlight to beat all! I love Fenty Beauty and the fact that they have have shades to fit all skin tones. When Rihanna first released this line, I didn't know where to start, I wanted to try it all. But I was so attracted to this beauty and I had heard so much hype about this highlighter that I had to try it. It's absolutely gorgeous. The first time I wore it I was in a dim restaurant and this was still visibly shimmering on my cheekbones! It's super super pigmented, so a little goes a long way. I've also used this for an eyeshadow and to compliment my collarbone and shoulders.

I naturally have dark circles under my eyes(even when I'm not tired) so I'm always on the hunt for a good concealer. I had seen so many bloggers and YouTuber's rave about how great this concealer is so I picked up a bottle for myself. It comes in 13 shades, which is a must for me, I hate using a concealer that makes my eyes look too pale. This is definitely a game changer! It's full coverage so one swipe is all you need to last all day. It's also perfect for cleaning up around your lip line after applying lipstick.

Creme Contour and Highlight Kit from KKW Beauty and KKW Creme Liquid Lipstick Collection

Contour Kit: I just received both of these last week from KKW's black Friday sale. I've wanted to try this contour kit since it was first released but after seeing so many mixed reviews I couldn't find a way to justify spending so much on a product that I wasn't sure I would even like. So better late than never, right? I chose the kit in dark, it's so easy to apply and blend. I applied it in Kim's signature 3 shape and used the brush to blend. I love the contour but the highlight is absolutely gorgeous! A lot of people have complained that the kit doesn't come with a lot of product but since I've been using it I've noticed that a little goes a long way. I love cream contours so I would definitely recommend this and I am definitely repurchasing this when I run out.

Lipstick Collection: When this collection was first released on Kylie Cosmetics, I was dying to try it. But week after week it was constantly sold out. So when I purchased the Contour Kit, Kim's Lipstick collection was actually in stock so I was super excited to try it! I love all of the shades but KiKi(a pink nude) and Kimberly(a light brown nude) are my favorites. I love the soft, creamy textures to these. Since I've received these I've worn at least one shade daily!

Voluminous Lash Paradise By L'Oreal Paris

This mascara is easy compared to the classic Better Than Sex Mascara by Too Faced but I think the formula is way better! Not only does it add length and volume, but it doesn't clump or dry your lashes out. I love the full bristle brush as well! Not to mention the $10 price tag.

Some other makeup products that I loved this year but didn't make it to the list are,

Skin Care

Virgin Marula Luxury Face Oil by Drunk Elephant

My skin is super dry, especially during the cold weather months. I use a moisturizer religiously but since it is so dry and tends to flake, I have to use a face oil as well. While on a trip to Sephora, I was recommended this product for super dry skin. I've never heard of the brand so I was anxious to try it.
It left my skin very soft, smooth and no signs of dryness! I was so impressed. It also left my skin with a healthy glowy look.

Luna Sleeping Night Oil by Sunday Riley

This year I hit the dirty thirty. Mother nature decided to bestow a gift to me upon reaching this age, crows feet. I'll admit that i've been using anti-aging products for the past few years with the logic that using anti-aging products before I show signs of aging will slow the process. So I'm already familiar with the products. I've used several products from Sunday Riley and I love everything from their line. So as a birthday gift to myself, I chose this gem. It threw me off at first because the oil is blue, but the color goes away when applied. After about a week of use I did notice the lines around my eyes had diminished some, and after a months use I noticed a huge change! I love this oil and would definetly recommend!

This is my first gel moisturizer that I've used. I love the consistency and texture when applying it to my face and neck area. It contains coffee and ginseng to boost hydration and prevent skin from drying out. I use it twice a day(morning and night) and I love it.

So those were my favorite beauty products of 2017! Let me know your thoughts, have you tried any or all of these? and what are your favorites of the year?

Bare Minerals Beauty and the Beach Review

Last week I cashed in my beauty points on Sephora.com for this lovely sample set by bare minerals. The set is called Beauty and the Beach and it includes 5 pieces for a summer look. The set included marvelous moxie lip gloss in party starter, ready bronzer in the skinny dip, bare minerals ready blush in the natural high, all over face color in pure radiance and a sample of their lash domination mascara . So here is my take on the set: Here it is ladies! Marvelous Moxie lipgloss in Party Starter- this is a darker, coral and peach color. It was very sticky but it lasted for a few hours. It matched the blush perfectly. Ready Blush in The Natural High : This blush is a nice peachy pink color, it looks really shimmery in the package but looks more matte when applied. I loved that the color matched the gloss! Ready Bronzer in The Skinny Dip- I used this to contour and sculpt my face and it turned out beautiful. It matched my skin tone very nicely. Its very similar to t

Best Fragrances of 2017

I am such a Perfume junkie. I change fragrances with clothes, moods, seasons and events. I've always felt like Perfume is a luxury that women should spoil their selves with. I love giving perfumes to my friends, family, co-workers, neighbors(you get the picture). And my favorite gift is always perfume(hint-hint)! Every department store visit, I head to the fragrance counter before I check out anything else to see what's new(Yes fragrance  girl, you can give me a spritz).  Ok, now that  you get the idea of how deep my relationship with perfume is.  2017 has been a great year for the fragrance industry. I thought long and hard and I really can't remember trying a scent that I didn't like. From new releases from beloved favorite brands, Gucci Bloom, Victor & Rolf Magic, Tom Ford Oud Minerale to new fragrences from Diptyque Eau des Sens, Jo Malone London Jade Leaf Tea Cologne, and Atelier Cologne CafĂ© Tuberosa.  It was a struggle to find my top 5 favorite scent
